Thomas the Elf

Great Neighbors!

Two, Four, Six, Eight, We think little boys are great!

Tonight our neighbors came over for some Christmas cheer. The boys had as much fun as we did. Their ages? 8, 6, 4 & 2. The only way we could get them to hold still for a picture was to put on "The Grinch"

Holiday Village

Sunday night we went downtown to the Piazza Bergamo were they have the Holiday Village. There are tons of trees and lights with "cabins" set up selling hot chocolate, cider, and other goodies. There is a bubble maker on the roof of one of the buildings and it really looks like snow. But Thomas' favorite was the carousel. We got in two rides before they shut down and he had the greatest time. We dragged him away bawling when they closed down, but he cheered up when we rode the downtown trolley up and down main street. He had the most fun standing up on the trolley benches looking at the lights.

Roper Mountain Lights

Saturday morning we made Christmas goodies for ourselves and our neighbors. Thomas was very helpful making gingerbread men and sugar cookies and enjoyed sampling his creations.

That evening we loaded up and went to Roper Mountain Science Center for their Holiday Lights. Although Thomas wanted nothing to do with Santa, he had a great time playing in their "winter wonderland" and driving through the lights. Mostly, though, I think he just liked being out of his car seat.

Party, Party, Party

Party, Party, Party

This was our Holiday party weekend. Friday night was Paul's work party so Thomas stayed home with KeKat (my co-worker Catherine) with Paul and I enjoyed a nice evening out with his coworkers. After a long Saturday morning (Thomas ended up at the Doctor's office because he got his finger stuck in the shower drain and ripped the skin off getting it out) we headed to Sunset for a Christmas Party at Nanny and Pappoadad's. Thomas was well behaved and delightfully happy. We all had a wonderful time (some more than others by the looks of the empty liquor bottles) Sunday we came back to Greenville and Thomas and I went to one of my work parties while Paul stayed home to Santa Clause. We had a very nice time at the party for Arrhythmia Consultants where they had gifts and a craft table set up for the kids. All in all, we had a fun weekend but we're all tired from all the partying!

School Program

So, tonight was Thomas Pitman's theatrical debut. The teachers at Trinity Kindergarten put together a Christmas program with all the childeren from the toddlers on up to the after school kids. They all paraded down the aisle of the sanctuary with little Thomas leading the way! After the opening comments, Thomas' class took the stage to shake their bells and sing Christmas Bells (Jingle Bells). Thomas didn't really sing but was jamming with the bells. All the other classes performed and the older kids did a skit and then all the children got on stage and sang We Wish You a Merry Christmas and a Christmas song to the tune of Hi Ho the Dairy-o. Thomas did GREAT and was definately the cutest kid there!

Parade

Saturday night was the Greenville Parade and we bundled up and headed downtown. Despite the cold, we had a very good time. Thomas particularly liked the "big hurse" pulling the carriage, the therapy dogs and the marching band. He tried to march in place, but he looked more like a can-can dancer. He also appreciated all the candy that they threw at us.

All I want for Christmas

All he wants for Christmas...

Saturday morning we went to Home Depot to get some items for decorating and we found some rental equipment in the adjacent lot. Needless to say, this was the highlight of Thomas's weekend and he talked about the "dig-dig" for the rest of the day.

Christmas Tree Hunting

The day after Thanksgiving we all drove up to Cashiers to a tree farm to cut our own tree. The ride made Granny and I a bit queasy, but it was worth the trip as we had a fantastic day in the mountains and got a beautiful tree.

A big thanks to Julie for coming and helping with Thomas while Paul was in Spain. We all had a great time and can't wait to see you at Christmas!

He's Gonna Kill Me Someday!

He may kill me someday, but it's hysterical. In case it needs narration, he trying to "poo on the potty". Unsuccessful here (obviously) but he has done it in the past.

Travel Weekend

While Thomas played with JuJu, Daddy and Mommy were earning Frequent Flyer Miles. Daddy spent the week in Spain and Mommy was in Nashville for the weekend.

I can't hear you!

I CAN'T HEAR YOU!

This is just one behavior we are enjoying as Thomas approaches the Terrible Twos.
Over the last few weeks we have been experiencing small doses of the fun that is yet to come. Thomas now has an opinion and is not afraid to express it even though he may not have the words to do so. Hopefully he will learn to use his words and the terrible twos won't last TWO long.

Grandparents Everywhere!

JuJu is in town for a few weeks and Nanny and Pappadad stopped by this afternoon to visit. Needless to say, Thomas was happy to get a little attention.

So Good it Needs a Bigger Spoon

Last night we had traditional German fare complete with Potato Pancakes, Kielbasa and Applesauce. It was so good Thomas had to use a serving spoon.

Fun at the Grocery Store

It's not a festival or a vacation, just an everyday trip to the grocery store, but I had to share this moment of joy .

HALLOWEEN DAY!

Friday morning Thomas had a Halloween party at school where he got to be a dragon again. They went from classroom to classroom trick-or-treating and the had a party. Sorry no pictures...I had to work. All reports say he had a good time. Paul took the afternoon off and we all got ready for Halloween.

After visiting with Nanny and her friend, Anne, we went to our neighbors for dinner before trick or treating. We set out with Jack and Grant and their two cousins, but broke off after awhile to circle back to our house to greet out guests. Thomas already had the whole begging concept down and enjoyed hanging out with the bigger kids. Unlike last nights sugar overload, Thomas was quite thrilled to eat two pears (he wanted more) and Life cereal. More candy for Mom and Dad!

Trunk or Treat at TUMK

Thursday evening, Paul, Thomas and I went to Trinity for "Trunk or Treating". There were about 10 cars/trucks circled around the parking lot with their tailgates open and decorated with streamers, lights and pumpkins.

The kids would walk around from car to car trick or treating then play a game in the middle (a cake walk or duck, duck, goose) then go around again. It was a nice time for the parents to get to know each other and the kids had a blast. Thomas especially liked the lollipops (5 of them!)

Countdown to Halloween

Paul, Thomas and I had a great weekend this weekend, though not too many pictures. Friday night was pizza and a movie and Thomas was really into Peter Pan for about the first forty five minutes, we lost him after that. Saturday morning, we had breakfast and headed to the downtown farmer's market. We walked around downtown, ran some errands and then had lunch at Pete's. Thomas took a nap and Paul got to work on the weekend project - he built a beautiful arbor over our garage doors. Thomas napped until late Saturday so we had a quiet evening at home watching football.

Sunday, Paul finished the arbor with the help of (or rather in spite of) Thomas. After naptime we went to a Halloween Festival in Moonville. There were games, bounce houses, hayrides, a petting zoo and the local fire department brought a fire engine. Thomas had a marvelous time and we celebrated a wonderful fall weekend with a pumpkin shake on the way home!

Fall is in the Air!

It definitely felt like fall today! Today we went to the pumpkin patch and got some pumpkins and pictures. Thomas was "So Cute It Was Scary!" We spent most of the day outside enjoying the beautiful weather and for dinner we had Brats cooked over a fire and S'mores for dessert.

Boo in the Zoo

Friday night was members only night at Boo in the Zoo. We asked Thomas if he wanted to dress up as a dragon and he said "No" so we asked him if he wanted to go as a giant lizard with wings and he said "Sure"!

Catherine and David joined us and we ended up meeting our neighbors, the Moons, there and Thomas had a ball looking for all the animals (most were asleep behind the scenes), checking out the wonderful decorations and getting treats from all the stations. It didn't take long for him to learn how to hold his bag up to get goodies.

After Boo in the Zoo we went to Sirrine Stadium for Greenville High's Homecoming football game. Thomas pigged out on a chick-fil-a sandwich, blue gatorade, popcorn and m&m's. He loved watching the game until the food ran out. After playing on "the hill", we came home, took a bath and went to bed!

Fall for Greenville

We spent a beatiful autum day in downtown Greenville at Fall for Greenville with 200,000 of our closest friends. It really wasn't too crowded early in the day, most people show up in the evenings for the concerts. It is an awesome festival with food vendors(46) chili cook-off, ice-carving, bike racing, lots of music, carnival rides and more. The weather couldn't have been better and we all enjoyed the food (Thomas especially liked the Brazillian Pastels), drinks (Paul and I especially liked Magic Hat 9) , music and rides (Thomas rode the carousel twice).

A Break From the Chores

We really got alot done this weekend, considering the overall health of the family. We did some much needed yard work, some work on the upstairs, groomed the dogs and did the weekly catch up on cleaning, laundry, etc.

After all our chores were done we all played a little "fuball" and then chilled on the couch to watch "shishies" (that's the DVD "Finding Nemo")
