Rascal Flatts

Last night was "Ladies Night Out" so Thomas and Daddy hung out at home while Mommy went to a concert with some girlfriends. We got tickets at the last minute, but I've found that many tours "re-release" tickets the week before the show. True to my theory we got great seats on the floor and had a blast rocking out to Jessica Simpson and Rascal Flatts.

Party Animal

One reason we waited to have a party for Thomas was so we could get through the holidays. The other reason is two of his friends were born on the fourth and we didn't want to compete for party time! Saturday we attended a party for our friend Avery, who was born 24 hours after Thomas. We had our first (of many) experiences with Chuck E. Cheese. Of course there was pizza and cake and then I spent a couple of hours trying frantically to keep up with the overstimulated two-year old. It was total chaos and Thomas loved every minute of it. His favorite was a horseracing simulator where he rode a moving horse in front of a screen with a virtual track.

Sunday, we attended our first "Jump Zone" party. Our neighbor, Grant, turned four and we went out Pelham to a warehouse full of inflatable bounce houses and playground equipment. There were children of all ages running, screaming and squealing. Paul took his shoes off and stayed with Thomas and it didn't take long for him to jump right in (pardon the pun).

Thomas is TWO!

Today was Thomas' second birthday. Everybody tries to tell you how fast they grow up, but you can never prepare for it to happen. Our little man has turned two. We decided that planning a party right after Christmas was going to be too stressful and Thomas will enjoy celebrating again later, so we skipped out on a big party with friends and neighbors and had a family gathering on the 3rd. The plan is to have a "Happy Half Birthday" party this summer when we have some time to prepare. Nanny, Pappadad, Granny and Juju were all here and Elizabeth, Jack, Kinsey and Max made the trip from Athens to have a fun day playing with toys, eating Cincinnati Chili and birthday cake. Thanks to all who made the trip!

As you can see Daddy and Pappadad made an amazing "Dig-Dig" cake that was not only delicious but also "functional"!

Christmas, the Sequel

Friday we headed to Lake Keowee for the continuation of Christmas. Nanny and Pappadad had a houseful...Granny, Paul, Laura, Thomas, Juju, Jack, Elizabeth, Kinsey, Max, Kudzu, Karbin and Annie. It was NOT a silent night. When we finally got the kids in bed we had a grown-up gift exchange and enjoyed some Christmas cheer. Saturday morning was a continuation of Christmas as we all got stockings and the basement looked like FAO Swartz.

Christmas Morning

We had a wonderful Christmas day. Early Christmas morning we arose and saw proof that Santa had come. He ate all the cookies and milk and took the carrots to his reindeer. Thomas played with his toys and then opened presents with Mommy, Daddy and Juju.

He got a great Firetruck from his Unkie Roy and Aunt Julie, lots of presents from Juju and Mommy and Daddy.

Santa Clause brought Thomas a train set and although he enjoyed playing with the train on the track, the funniest thing was when he stopped playing. He started putting the trains down his pajamas. I don't know if he was hoarding them or if he thought he was putting them in his pockets for safe keeping, but it was rather hysterical to watch him walking around with 35 trains down his pajamas.
After lunch Nanny, Pappadad and Granny came down to play with Thomas and have a delicious Christmas dinner.
